Matt Bellamy said that one of the reasons they’ve picked that album to perform is because "it's always been an album the hardcore fans have always talked about as one of their favourites, if not the favourite. So we wanted to play it for them as a celebration of the 10 years since it came out…"

The band also produced a new stage shows and festivals, is a 2001 concept album and the artwork on the surrounding has promised to bring.

"We'll do whatever we can get away with within the restrictions of a festival stage," explained Bellamy.

For the second half of the show, drummer Dom Howard said: "We'll probably just do the old cheap encore and play a few hits!"

The gorgeous event held on this weekend (August 26-28), features headline sets from Muse, My Chemical Romance and a co-effort from Pulp and The Strokes.

Muse lead singer Matt Bellamy currently went on record where he admitted that sometimes he sings about things that he believe is not enough.

Bellamy said, in relation to the band’s lyrics, “I love the music. A lot of people have picked up on some of it being tongue-in-cheek.”

Bellamy went on to say that his behavior when he is playing he actually is a bit different from listening to your music.

He said, “When I’m playing it, I believe it. I’m going into these strange emotions. So I can only assume that people get that feeling too.”

The bands present their secret gig at Sao Paulo nightclub Bar Secreto after wrapping up their South American stadium tour on 13th April Wednesday.

Muse to support U2 in South America

On their South American tour next year,Muse are to support Irish rockers U2.

To perform two shows in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and São Paulo, Brazil the UK band will hit the road next spring.

“We are very pleased to announce that Muse will be supporting U2 in Argentina and Brazil", posted on Group Official Website.

Tickets for the shows – which take place on 30 March and 9 April – go on general sale on 7 December, but Muse fans will be able to pre-order their tickets on 6 December.

Its time for Muse fans to get up,the band has recently details of two UK stadium shows for 2010.

First show will held at Lancashire County Cricket Ground on September 4 and second show will take place at London Wembley Stadium on September 11.

"We'll definitely start working on a new album next year," Wolstenholme told NME, during some downtime at UK festival T In the Park. But before the bombastic rockers figure out how they'll top their 2009 ode to Orwell, Wolstenholme says the band will try something new: taking a vacation.
"I think we'll definitely take some time off after this touring period because it's something we've never done," Wolstenholme said. "I think the most time we've had off is about six weeks in the last 12 years, so we're due a break."
The band's recently on tour in Europe, with dates scheduled worldwide until December 19. They return to Canada for one show, playing Quebec City Oct. 21.

Supporting its fifth album, "The Resistance," Muse filled the United Center on Friday night, and, having made it to the top, worked overtime to go over the top.
Moving hydraulic platforms; lasers; shiny suits; rotating drum sets; LCD towers; giant, inflatable eyeballs; soaring solos; and falsetto vocals: Muse may hail from the U.K., but in terms of bombast and sheer spectacle, the band is tailor-made for the U.S. It's a wonder it took as long as it did to extend its global hold to these shores. There are far worse aspirations than ruling the world, at least for a rock band, and Muse wielded its technical prowess and mastery of technology like benevolent dictators, the virtuoso core trio of Matthew Bellamy, Christopher Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard (abetted by a keyboard player) soaking in all the ego-charging adulation, while still working nonstop to entertain.
For a band whose sweeping sci-fi, hard-rock-plus-synths songs frequently tweak totalitarianism (however generally), Muse can be a tad oppressive. Indeed, in less enthusiastic hands, the dystopian visions of songs such as "Uprising," "Unnatural Selection" and "Knights of Cydonia" would have been big bummers. But Muse performed each with such maximum anthemic aplomb that — boilerplate us-versus-them subject matter aside — victory never seemed in question. Despite the dire scenarios of Bellamy's songs, Muse is far from fighting for survival; it's celebrating winning the war. They are the champions.

Muse thank Rick Rubin for teaching them 'how not to produce' at Music Producers Guild Awards

Muse had a dig at Rick Rubin at this year's Music Producers Guild Awards tonight (February 11), as Paul Epworth was named Producer Of The Year at the London ceremony.
Matt Bellamy joked about the veteran producer as his band picked up the UK Single Of The Year for 'Uprising'.

"We produced something! I'd like to thank John Leckie for teaching us how to produce and Rick Rubin for teaching us how not to produce," the singer told the room to a chorus of oohs, before adding, "I thought you'd like that one!"

Meanwhile Epworth was recognised for his work with the likes of Jack Penate, Friendly Fires and Florence And The Machine, with the latter's Florence Welch coming onstage to present him with the trophy.

The award also means Epworth will pick up Best Producer at this year's BRIT Awards next week (February 16).

"I'm just over the moon man, it's not something you desire to work towards, you desire to make good music, but it's always nice when that's honoured and recognised. Ultimately a good producer is someone who helps an artists be the best they can be. I've really enjoyed working with the people I've worked with," Epworth told NME.COM after receiving his award.
"I just try to make each record different. I like to think I don't have a sound . With Florence it felt like we found something we could get excited about and channel, with Jack we found something totally different and channelled it and sometimes the job isn't production you have to tell them what to do and then make sure they don't get bogged down with the details. It's a funny artform."

Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Muse Top NME Shortlist

Male bands led the charge at the NME award nominations on Monday, with Arctic Monkeys appearing in six categories, Kasabian in five and Muse in four.

And for all the talk of the dominance of solo female acts in 2010 and beyond, even Oasis have been nominated three times some five months after announcing they had split.
"It's a good thing knowing we're still up for these awards," said Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys.

"Kasabian have said that there aren't any other proper rock bands apart from us and them. I don't necessarily agree completely but I know what they're saying. I think we're just co-existing nicely."

Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys go head-to-head in five categories -- best British band, best live band, best album, best video and a new category for 2010, the "Giving It Back Award" recognizing bands giving away offers to their fans.

Muse have reportedly asked under-fire Fox TV presenter Glenn Beck to retract his public endorsement of the band after he praised them on his radio show.

Beck, who is known for his conservative stance on politics, is currently embroiled in a scandal over remarks he made in July when he called President Obama "a racist". The Press Association today (October 5) reports that Waitrose has pulled its advertisements on Fox News over the incident.

Speaking on 'The Glenn Beck Program' on September 16, the presenter hailed Muse's latest album 'The Resistance' as "fantastic", before stating that the band themselves are known to share his libertarian views concerning how the western world is governed.

"These guys are brilliant, they know the time that we live in. They are libertarians from England," he said. "All of the lyrics are just dead on, on what's coming our way."

Glenn Beck admits lying over Muse retraction plea

Fox News presenter Glenn Beck's declaration that Muse had asked him to stop praising the band was entirely false, it has been revealed.

As previously reported, Beck had praised the band on Twitter and during his radio programme in September, before telling listeners that the band's representatives had been in touch with him asking if he would "retract my endorsement".

Beck, who is known for his strong conservative views, is still under fire after he called President Obama "a racist" in July.

Speaking about the presenter's comments about Muse, Christopher Balfe, the president and COO of Beck's company Mercury Radio Arts, admitted that the whole thing had been a ruse, reports MTV.

"After raving about Muse for four minutes, Glenn made a joke about their representatives emailing him to stop," Balfe said. "While it is entirely possible that Muse does not like having Glenn as a fan, he was making a joke and their representatives never reached out to him."

Despite Beck suggesting on several occasions that he believes Muse share his strong libertarian views on western power, the band's spokesperson said they would be making no comment about the issue.

Queen's Brian May has lauded Muse's latest album.

The guitarist praised 'The Resistance', which many critics and fans have said owes a big debt to the sound of the British veterans.

"I love it, I think it's great stuff," May told BBC News. "I think they're very good boys and extremely talented, and like us they have their tongue in cheek a lot of the time."

The Queen man added he had met Muse on several occasions and they had cited his band as an inspiration.

"They said they liked us and that we've been an influence, which is obviously nice for someone like me to hear," he recalled.

"They are extraordinary musicians. Real virtuosos - much more than I am. I like the way they let their madness show through, always a good thing in an artist."

Muse a toast to Vermeer

I've never met Ektoras Binikos, but his cocktail recipes have been intriguing me for many a year, and I'm sure that you, too, would be pretty fascinated by a guy who tried to incorporate dried blood into a cocktail.
The people who hired him to create the drink wouldn't allow the blood, so he tried to add some tears - a specific woman's tears, of course - to the drink, but they didn't go for that, either. It was back to the drawing board.
Ektoras is a Greek born artist who tends bar in New York City, and any decent search engine will lead you to sites where his work is on display. I'm particularly fond of his video, "Explaining an Image to a Stuffed Hare (After Joseph Beuys)," though I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste.
The "blood and tears" drink was created for the 60th birthday party of performance artist Marina Abramovic. She's a woman who is fond, it seems, of freezing herself onstage, and she incorporates other acts of self mutilation into her art form, too. It's not actually my cup of tea, but the world would be oh-so-boring if people like this weren't among us, right?
Being denied permission to use human body fluids in his drink, Ektoras went for cayenne pepper, instead. Good choice, right? But this wasn't any old cayenne pepper. It was cayenne pepper that Abramovic had placed under her pillow and slept on for seven nights, "so that it would absorb her auratic energy," he told me.
The birthday party was a big hit. People such as Lou Reed and David Byrne turned out for the event - it was held at the Guggenheim Museum in New York a few years ago - and Binikos' cocktail was a big hit, too. "As everyone toasted her, a strong auratic energy vibration simultaneously connected Marina with everyone in the room," he said.
More currently, Binikos sent me a recipe for a drink that he calls the Milkmaid. He created it to celebrate the painting of the same name by Johannes Vermeer. There's no milk in Biniko's Milkmaid cocktail, and there's no bread pudding in there, either - the maid in the painting is sometimes thought to be making that dessert - but there's an ounce of geneva from the Netherlands in there, so the ever-so-Dutch Vermeer would probably approve.
Although you'll have to go to the bother of making a citrus-mint syrup to make this baby, give thanks for the fact that you don't have to track down Marina Abramovic so you can persuade her to sleep on some cayenne pepper for you.

Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy is apparently taking the name of the band's 2001 "Plug In Baby" single seriously because the second he and his band begin performing in the video for new single "Undisclosed Desires," he plugs his guitar in... to his foot.
Of course, no Muse video would be complete without a total "WTF" moment, and that's definitely got to be the random shots of blood, hearts and brains that show up throughout this typically futuristic, completely random clip. 'Camera's Muse' at Mitchell Gallery

"The Camera's Muse: Photographic Portraits from the Collection of Robert M. Infarinato" - 40 black-and-white portraits, many by acclaimed photographers including Henri Cartier-Bresson, Arnold Newman, Ansel Adams, Alfred Eisenstaedt and Ruth Bernhard - is on view starting Nov. 1 at the Mitchell Gallery at St. John's College.
An interpretative reading, opening reception and family program will be held Nov. 1, beginning at 2:30 p.m. with an exhibit related presentation by Annapolis actor, writer and musician Tim King and musician John Starr. From 3:30 to 5 p.m., art educator Lucinda Edinberg and collector Robert Infarinato will co lead a tour of the exhibit, which will be followed by a hands on workshop.
Infarinato began collecting photographic portraits in 1984. His personal collection now consists of some 200 portraits and includes many of well-known artists such as Duke Ellington, Pablo Picasso, Carl Sandburg, Georgia O'Keefe and Alberto Giacometti.
His collection includes portraits that capture well-known artists in private moments. For instance, Infarinato describes one of his numerous jazz portraits: "Duke Ellington is seated on a piano bench in his dressing room, looking away from the piano and music. There's a closet full of suits, his desk is covered with his personal effects, a tie hanging down a lamp, and things are all over the place. This is his space. He is taking a moment to smile for someone who is in his dressing room. He's all about the music ...
He'd take a piece of new music on to the stage and say, 'OK let's play it.' This image evokes him and his world."
Another photo, of Alberto Giacometti taken by his good friend Henri Cartier-Bresson, shows a gallery space. "There are two statues of human figures: the one on the left is bent. The one on the right in the back is totally erect. Giacometti is walking between them, carrying another statue.
He is bent over, with a cigarette in his mouth, in a similar stance to the statue on the left. This is a man in his milieu. He is not working on a sculpture. He is a sculpture."
When describing his collection Infarinato says, "These are 'situational photos' ... I look for something that reflects some aspect of the person, more than a headshot. I look for context. It doesn't matter if the person is famous or not famous. The person in the photo may be unknown and the photographer may be a great. Or perhaps the image itself is well-known and the subject is not recognized, and may never be seen again. In the fabric of life the subject wouldn't stand out, but as a portrait it does."
The exhibit is on view through Dec. 17.

Win Q Awards to GaGa, Lily & Muse

GaGa picked up the Best Video prize for her Just Dance promo but unhapply did not attend the event.

Lily’s return track The Fear picked up Best Song while Muse were named Best Act In The World Today.

Arctic Monkeys bagged the award for Best Live Act as Kasabian were given the Best Album gong for their ludicrously named LP West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.

Q Magazine also named Mr Hudson the breakthrough artist of the year.

Lifetime achievement awards went to The Specials and Spandau Ballet among other artists.

Despite being nominated for two awards Oasis- who split earlier this year- did not attend.

And despite being nominated for no awards Amy Winehouse did. She wore a red dress which showed off her pert boobs- which have reportedly been enhanced recently.

'I Belong To You' For 'New Moon' Muse Were Happy To Rock

Whether they wanted to or not, Muse have pretty much established themselves as the resident Twilight band. After being frequently shouted out by author Stephenie Meyer, the British rockers' "Supermassive Black Hole" was featured on the soundtrack to the first film. It surprised absolutely no one that they were asked to record a song for the second flick in the franchise, New Moon, but the band is pretty flattered to be the only artists to appear on both discs. "It might be something to do with Stephenie Meyer and that she loves us," drummer Dominic Howard told MTV News. "We met her quite awhile ago in Phoenix - it was before Twilight came out. She's a very nice lady and talked about how she listens to our music as she writes her books. This is all way before it turned into this huge success that it is, before everyone went vampire nuts." But now that everyone has gone "vampire nuts," Howard says they're happy to benefit from the extra exposure. "I think our music has reached out to whole loads of new people that haven't heard us before," he said. "It's great to know that people are discovering our music. It's a nice side project to be involved in."Muse originally recorded the piano ballad "I Belong to You" for their latest album, The Resistance. But just as that album came out, the brain trust behind the Twilight flicks asked them to rework the track for New Moon."I know the director [Chris Weitz] really, really liked that track," Howard said. "He actually wanted to get it into a scene somewhere, but they wanted a slightly change vibe of what was already recorded for the album."So, they headed back into the studio, and Howard said he's quite pleased with the results. "It's a bit more rock in some ways," he said. "We rocked it up a bit and put some guitars on it and did an alternative mix."Although Muse will soon be heading out on a tour, Howard said they might be able to fit the film's premiere into their schedules. "I think we got invited to the premiere, which might be in London the day before one of our shows in London," he said. "I liked the first one. I thought it was quite cool. I thought it was quite raw as well."

Rises Again Muse

Matthew Bellamy is unstoppable. By now, even he must know it. Of course, we're not living in Europe, so our faithful readers might not yet be familiar with the name. Key word: yet. The cyrrent release of The Resistance means that Bellamy is on the fast track to becoming a household name or perhaps we should be referring to him with his more recognized moniker: Muse. I don't mean to take away from the other two thirds of the English rock band, bassist Christopher Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard. Both are masterful musicians in their own right who are not (entirely) dispensable. But let's face it: Bellamy, with his powerful pipes, fluid piano and guitar work, and, most importantly, writing credits (that's rightâ€¦on every single song) should feel free to lay claim to any praise bestowed on the name of Muse.The previous two albums, Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations, quite firmly established their style within the realm of progressive rock so that upon hearing that passionate vocal range, pounding beats, and dramatic compositions, there was no doubt that we were experiencing Muse. The Resistance does not offer much more in the way of style. Although I would have liked for them to tread some slightly more radical grounds, fortunately there is no disappointingly jarring shift we see too often in artists trying to experiment with sounds (see Chris Cornell's Timbaland-produced 2009 album, Scream).The Resistance makes up for this possible repetitiveness in pure ambition. Muse has always been nothing short of what can only be called epic. The last album obviously didn't cut it for them, because Muse ups the drama and widens their scope, bringing us an album worthy of singing Beowulf to. As if to show off his cultured knowledge of music, Bellamy features an excerpt from Frederic Chopin's Nocturne in E-Flat, Op. 9 No. 2 in the track titled "United States of Eurasia/Collateral Damage." He also rearranged parts of "Mon coeur s'ouvre Ã ta voix" from Camille Saint-Saens opera "Samson and Delilah" for the track "I Belong to You." Yeah, I don't know what those are either, but they sure sound sophisticated.

Muse¡s music has always lent itself well to stomping around like a badass. This would explain why the first half of their latest album, The Resistance, would have been perfect runway music for the current fashion weeks in Paris and Milan. The band sets off the plaintive wail of lead singer Matthew Bellamy with full, pulsing instrumentals that, as the album progresses, grow increasingly operatic and orchestral. This crescendo of heightened musicality reveals the ambition behind this offering (look the last three tracks, which make up a tripartite symphony called, of all things, Exogenesis). Aspiring to such lofty results comes with mixed success, as the best tracks definitely come early, like Resistance and the very Depeche Mode Undisclosed Desires. Still, the band deserves applause for its serious efforts, which show that without a doubt, Muse could never be content with offering its acolytes the status quo.

British alternative rock trio Muse, pop artist Lily Allen and returning local heroes Powderfinger are booked to play the 2010 Big Day Out festival tour of Australia and New Zealand. Others confirmed by arranger today (Sept. 29) for the line up include British electronica acts Groove Armada and Calvin Harris, swaggering Brit rockers Kasabian, alt-rock band the Horrors, rapper Dizzee Rascal and rising local artists Ladyhawke, Lisa Mitchell and the Temper Trap. But there was no space on today's announcement for David Bowie, who had been widely tipped by bloggers to gig down under for an acoustic performance. Now entering its 18th run, the Big Day Out is the largest outdoor music event of its kind in Australia. Attendance for the six-date 2009 edition reached 263,054, down slightly from the all time peak of 282,692 for the 2008 tour.The BDO 2010 kicks off Jan. 15 at Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium, before moving on to venues at the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and concluding Jan. 31 at Perth's Claremont Showground. Tickets will be priced at $140 Australian ($100) for the Australian dates and $132 New Zealand ($92) for the Auckland event.

London (ANI): British alternative rock band Muse is set to be one of the bands contributing to the soundtrack of New Moon, the second film in the Twilight series. The band, from Devon, have remixed a song off their latest album 'The Resistance', called 'I Belong To You', for the soundtrack, reports the BBC.
The soundtrack will be released on October 19, a month before the film. Included in it are The Killers (A White Demon Love Song) and Radiohead's Thom Yorke (Hearing Damage), who have written brand new tunes. Other artists who've contributed include Editors, Lykke Li, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Death Cab for Cutie song Meet Me On The Equinox is the title track to the film, and it was Zane Lowe's hottest record in the world on his Radio 1 show last week. The first Twilight soundtrack has sold more than 170,000 copies in the UK so far and more than 3.5 million copies worldwide.

UK charts to Muse's new album proves irresistible

LONDON (Reuters) British rock band Muse shot straight to the top of the UK album charts with their new release "The Resistance" outselling the next three top albums combined, the Official Charts Company said on Sunday.
British World War Two armed forces' sweetheart Vera Lynn, who last week became the oldest living artist to have a number one album, dropped a place to number two with "We'll Meet Again," a collection of her best known songs.
That meant singer Peter Andre, whose marriage break up with glamour model Katie Price, has dominated tabloid newspapers in current weeks, had to settle for third place with his new release "Revelation."
U.S. rapper Jay-Z was another new entry in fourth with "The Blueprint 3," while singer-songwriter David Gray's "Draw The Line" went into the charts in fifth place.
In the singles chart, Taio Cruz, whose writing and production talents have been used by the likes of Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and the Pussycat Dolls, debuted in top spot with "Break Your Heart."
David Guetta featuring Akon stayed in second place with "Sexy Chick," while Madonna was a new entry in third with "Celebration."
Jay-Z featuring Rihanna and Kanye West remained in fourth with "Run This Town," with "She Wolf" by Shakira climbing 20 places to fifth.

'The Resistance' Muse, Album review

This over the top English trio has long played to smaller audiences in the United States than it does throughout Europe, where Muse is considered among the biggest rock bands on Earth. (In 2007 it played two sold out shows at London's 75,000 capacity Wembley Stadium.Yet singer-guitarist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard received a considerable encouragement on these shores last year when their song "Supermassive Black Hole" was featured conspicuously in the hit movie "Twilight." And last week came news that "Uprising," the lead single from the band's fifth full length, had topped the U.S. alternative rock radio chart.In some ways, "The Resistance" seems designed for an American breakthrough: "Undisclosed Desires" rides a lithe R&B groove that could've come from a song by Nelly Furtado, while "Uprising" finds Bellamy sympathizing with folks who consider themselves victims of Wall Street greed. Over a thumping disco glam beat he sneers, "It's time the fat cats had a heart attack," a line that's probable to draw a huge reaction later this month when Muse opens a string of U2 shows on the East Coast and in Texas.On the other hand, much of "The Resistance" reflects how uninterested the members of Muse are in dialing down their appealing flamboyance to attract Daughtry and Nickelback fans. That arty intransigence often improves the band's music, as in "United States of Eurasia," which proceeds from a pretty piano ballad intro to an Arabian accented orchestral rock climax.Occasionally, though, it can make Bellamy and his bandmates sound like the world's most successful sourpusses. You don't have to make it all the way through "Exogenesis," the three part symphony that closes the new album, before you start hankering for a Nickelback style chorus.

Muse: 'would say yes' to Bond song

Rock band Muse have said they would be keen to record the theme for the next James Bond film.
"It's something we'd probably say yes to, or at least give it a good go," drummer Dom Howard told the BBC.
The new Muse album The Resistance, released this week, sees the band blending their stadium rock sound with strings and opera.
"Certainly some of our music fits with the James Bond vibe and I think it could work," Howard said.

Daniel Craig is due to return as James Bond in the 23rd adventure of the series, although no production date has been announced.
The last James Bond theme Another Way to Die was recorded by Jack White and Alicia Keys.
Duran Duran were the last British band to record the Bond theme, more than 20 years ago, for 1985's A View To a Kill.
"The last few have been pretty good," said Howard. "But I think we could do a good job.

He added that bassist Chris Wolstenholme was a big Bond fan.
Orchestral symphony
The Resistance is the follow up to 2006's Black Holes And Revelations and features a three part orchestral symphony called Exogenesis.
So would Muse consider writing a full film score?
"Matt 9Bellamy) did the end credits for a film called The International," said Howard. "It's not something we've done as a band, but we sometimes get asked for that kind of thing.
"It's a bit weird in the Hollywood world, because you spend a lot time being told what to do and that's a bit of a pain because we like to do what we want.
"So, I think if you can find a director you can acually relate to, and it's a great film, and you know you can work well together, then it could be a possibility."

On The Resistance, Muse's fifth album, the band go big. A shocker, right? Not really. Since they first appeared as vague Radioheaders with 1999's Showbiz, it was appartend that grand schemes and notions of musical grandeur danced in the band's collective head.
Now those dreams are made manifest: Muse have grown up, grown into their appetite, and they create the sort of bombast that makes 'bombast' a much less deformed word.
Early into the recording, maverick guitarist and musical redical Matthew Bellamy hinted that The Resistance would be "orchestral" and "classical," sending shivers down many a spine. Would Muse lapse into a cringe inducing, ego inflated ELP/Rick Wakeman prog odyssey?
The good news is, not difficultly. Sure, Muse want to impress us, but more than that, and more significantly, they want us to feel. And because that impulse is so genuine driven most critically by frontman Bellamy, who writes the bulk of the material we do feel. In this day and age, that's saying something.
Bellamy has all of his authority lined up like ducks in a row here. There's Berlioz and Lizst, and a whiff of Rachmaninoff for nice measure. Chopin he virtually name checks, having included a passage from Nocturne In E-Flat Major in the shameless Queen tribute United States Of Eurasia. The same goes for opera I Belong To You features parts from Samson And Delilah.
But we also catch some Debussy and Gershwin (intentional?), along with an overall framework that recalls the epic theatre of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill.
OK, you're scared, right? Don't be. On first listen, The Resistance is a masterwork that offers plenty of aural thrills. Bellamy's Manson guitars are locked on 'stun' throughout, although we do have a artifice, and it's a major one: He's a bit of a tease.
Every time Bellamy launches into a mind melting or soul magnifying solo, he pulls back, as if to say, "That's enough." This can be annoying since too much of a good thing is a great thing, and not enough of a good thing is a cheat.
That's the problem when you want to cram so much music into each song something's gotta give. Bellamy's a modern day rock god shred king, right up there with the best of them. On The Resistance, when he should let us bathe and luxuriate in his six string triumphs, he gives us brief, refreshing showers.

TICKETS to Muse's hugely await Teignmouth agreement sold out in record time yesterday.
Overjoyed fans are celebrating after waiting line outside the Carlton Theatre for more than 24 hours to get tickets to The Den Seaside Rendezvous agreements.
Matt Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme made an appearance in the town on Thursday night and happily new world chat with waiting fans.
Matt said: "It has been great to see all the fans waiting up, I also announcement a few older Teignmouth residents queuing too. It is great to know our music is getting across to different generations."
Box office staff sold an allowance of 5,000 tickets within one hour of them going on sale, with extra selling out by mid afternoon.

However, national online ticket sales sold out in 20 minutes as fans fenland websites. Internet auction sites were yesterday already re-selling tickets at a whopping £840 a pair.
Hundreds of dedicated fans braved cold conditions overnight so they could buy the £37.50 tickets for the appearance on Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5.
By 9am yesterday, the queue snaked from the theatre's box office appear on the stage, around The Den, past the Beachcomber cafe and towards The Point car park. Some camped out from 8.30am on Thursday.
Newly opened restaurant, Take 2 in the Riviera Cinema building, played Muse hits ahead of the ticket booths opening.
Roger Smith, chairman of Teignmouth Players, the voluntary administartion which runs the theatre said: "Teignmouth has never seen anything like this. It has been amazing. The fans have been wonderful. They waited all night and have been in excellent the holy ghost throughout."
The band, who have twice won the best live appearance title at the Brit Awards, haven't played on home area since 1995 and the break to see them locally has gone down a storm with people of all elds.
Charlotte Mortimore, 21, and Sam Taylor, 20, from Teignmouth, were the first to get their Saturday gig tickets despite a last minute hiccup when Charlotte realised she had lost her bankcard.
But after a few panicked minutes she got her hands on four for the Saturday night event. Both said they were "ecstatic".
Charlotte said: "We are so excited now. It's going to be amazing. Last night was so much fun, we have not had any sleep, and stayed up all night chatting to people and playing drinking games."
Sam added: "We are going to celebrate with a few drinks before going home to bed for a upstart."
Brothers Jakk and Harry Tranckle, from Teignmouth, queued with friends.
Jakk, 19, said: "I am absolutely shattered but it was worth the wait.
"I've been listening to Muse since I was 12 years old. I think it's amazing they are going to be playing in their home town."
Harry, 22, added: "I can't believe it's only two weeks. It's going to be excellent."
Dale Stewart, 22, of Teignmouth, said: "This is a once in a lifetime chance. They have not forgotten where they have come from and that is great."
Jacqueline Daviss started queuing at 1.30pm on Thursday and got Saturday tickets for her and children Emily, 19, Jazmine, 14 and Oscar, six.
She said: "There has been a wonderful atmosphere. The great thing was that the queue was full of local people. My children have grown up with Muse so I think it's brilliant they have remembered their hometown and are putting on these concerts."

Muse have announced two homecoming performance in Devon.
The rockers will play the tiny Teignbridge Den on September 4 and 5 after getting special agreement from the local council.

Muse release their latest epic album The Resistance soon after on September 12.

The band said they wanted to avoid the ordinary London warm up presentation by heading back to their roots.

They had been in talks with the council for weeks bassist Chris Wolstenholme even attended meetings to help the adjudication.

Tickets are likely to be given to locals first.

In recent years Muse have headlined Wembley Stadium and festivals including Glastonbury and V so these two performances will certainly be a different experience for them and fans!

VAIL, Colo. — On Thursday and Friday nights the Vail International Dance Festival looked both forward and back. An UpClose evening on Thursday, at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek, was called “Wendy Whelan: Dancer and Muse.” The first half looked back over Ms. Whelan’s 24-year career (beginning in 1985) with New York City Ballet; the second half homed in on her work with the choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and, most recently, as a guest with Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company.Morphoses menachem begin life at the Vail festival two years ago. It has begun its annual season here each year, then gone on to dance, in the fall, in both London (Sadler’s Wells Theater) and New York (New York City Center), as it will this year. Most of the Muse songs are known by lead vocalist Matthew Bellamy's falsetto and use of vibrato. As a guitarist, Bellamy often utilises arpeggio and pitch-shift effects to make a more "electric" sound, citing Jimi Hendrix and Tom Morello as effect for this method.
Black Holes & Revelations was influenced by different types of European and Asian music. "I've been listening to many of music from the south of Italy on this album", Bellamy admits. "I've been living in Italy for a while, and I discovered this music from Naples, which sounds like a mix of music from Africa, Croatia, Turkey, and Italy. It kind of gives it a mystical sound, so I think that's one thing that influenced the album. I like being influenced by things that have a mixed style".

• Morgan Nicholls – synthesizers, keyboards, backing vocals, bass guitar (2004 – present)
Nicholls played bass at the 2004 V Festival in place of the injured Wolstenholme, who broke his wrist during a football match with Didz Hammond from The Cooper Temple Clause. He continues to play bass on "Hoodoo", where Chris plays the guitar, in addition to being a regular synthesizer and keyboard player as well as a backing vocalist.
• Danny Newell (A.K.A. Dan the Trumpet Man) – trumpet (2006 – present)
Newell plays the trumpet on "Knights of Cydonia" and "City of Delusion" live, although not at every concert.

Muse is a British rock band in Teignmouth, Devon, England in 1994. Since their inception, the band has been consisted of Matthew Bellamy (vocals, guitar, piano), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass guitar, vocals, keyboards) and Dominic Howard (drums, percussion). Muse are recognized best for their vigorous and visually dramatic live performances and on 16 June and 17, 2007 became the first band to sell out the newly built Wembley Stadium in London. Muse have launched four studio albums. Their most new, Black Holes & Revelations, make the band a Mercury Prize nomination and a third place finish in the NME Albums of the Year list for 2006. The band are getting ready their fifth studio album, The Resistance, which is scheduled to be launched on September 14th 2009.
Muse have got many other music awards throughout their career, as well as five MTV Europe Music Awards, five Q Awards, six NME Awards, two BRIT awards and four Kerrang! Awards. They have been concerned with Teenage Cancer Trust and played at the Royal Albert Hall where they donated all money made by t-shirts etc, to the charity.
